We are glad that you are coming to Israel after a long time when it was not possible to visit and hold physical conferences and seminars.
Here you can find some recommendations and general information:

At the conference registration post / hotel reception, a Green Pass / negative PCR certificate within the last 72 hours, must be presented.

It is not possible to enter the conference without presenting this certificate

Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa

Buses –
To arrive from the Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa you will have to combine 3 routes:
1. Take bus line number 5 from Ben Gurion Air Port Terminal 3 to El-Al junction stop (Cost approximately : 5NIS).
2. Take bus line number 947 from El-Al junction stop to Haifa Merkazit Khof Ha-Karmel (Cost approximately : 35NIS).

The combined travel time should be between 2.5-3 hours.

Israel Railways –
To arrive from the Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa you will have to take one train:
The train station is located at the exit from Terminal 3, Take the train to Haifa-Hof HaKarmel (Razi`el) station from platform 2 (cost: approximately 36 NIS for one way).
Then you can take a special taxi to the Dan Panorama Hotel from the train gate (about NIS 70) or cross the road to the Central Bus Station and take a bus to your Hotel.

*Guests with foreign citizenship (with standard B2 or B3 certificates) are exempt from VAT. All other guests will be charged extra VAT in accordance with the law.

Foreign participants 

During check in when you present your passport and the B2 entrance card which you receive at the airport (which indicates your exemption for paying vat), the rate of the accommodation will be reduced accordingly.

The Weather

The average temperature in Haifa area in January ranges between 24°C-12°C. Often rainfall and fog may be expected in January, however, rainstorms or snow are rarely observed in Israel. The daytime weather is expected to be sunny and warm, nighttime weather is expected to be colder, thus, it is recommended to pack warm clothes as well.
Casual dress is appropriate for all conference occasions.

Liability 

Participants are advised to purchase comprehensive travel insurance coverage. The workshop organizers  will not be liable for any loss or damage to property belonging to conference participants nor for personal injuries sustained during the workshop or during tours.

A letter of invitation 

A letter of invitation from the “CBIM – TE4”  conference will be issued upon request. This invitation is prepared solely to assist with visa application or participation requirements, and is not a commitment on the part of the organizers to provide any financial support or confirmation of inclusion in the Scientific Program.

Arrival to the Technion

By public transportation:
Haifa has two main bus-train terminals:
* Hof HaCarmel – The number 11 bus is a direct bus to the Technion. It leaves from platform 16 and runs only once or twice an hour. Otherwise take the 123 from platform 15; you will have to change at Ziv center (ask the driver where to get  off) to any bus going to the Technion (11, 17, 19, 31).
* Merkazit HaMifratz – The 142 reaches the Technion. It leaves from platform 21 and runs a few times a day. Otherwise take the 16 from platform 23; you will have to change at Ziv (ask the driver where to get off) to any bus going to the Technion (11, 17, 19, 31).

Electricity 

The Israeli power supply is single phase 220 volts at 50 Hertz. Most power sockets in Israel have three pin holes, but many of them will work with double-pin European plugs. Visitors who want to use shavers, traveling irons and other small appliances may need both transformers and adaptor plugs.

Currency / Exchange 

The currency unit in Israel is the New Israeli Shekel (NIS – “Shekel” in short). International credit cards are accepted for payment in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Exchange offices and ATM machines are easily available throughout the city and at Ben-Gurion International Airport. We recommend that you change some of your money at the airport for immediate needs.
